Try something new with our Get into courses!

Have you ever wanted to try a sport but never get round to doing it? Were you involved with something when you were younger and would like to try it again?  

Whether you're a new or returning student, our coach-led short courses are a great way to build or perfect your skills, get active and have fun.

What do we offer?

We deliver a range of activities throughout the year including Skiing, Snowboarding, Archery, Wakeboarding and more. All of our courses are delivered over a 3 - 6 week block and start from as low as £20 for the full block.

We provide the transport to and from the venue aswell as all the equipment you need to get involved. It really has never been easier to try out a new sport!

 

Manchester

Get into Climbing (6 weeks)

Feeling adventurous?  Want to reach new heights in 2017? Then why not give climbing a go! Our six-week course gives you the chance to learn the basics of climbing so you can climb competently with friends.

The course will also give you the opportunity to obtain a National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) level one and two, meaning you can gain qualifications and experience!

Get into Skiing (3 Weeks)

Our Three-week beginner skiing lessons will help you construct a solid foundation of fundamental skills, such as getting a feel for your skis, learning to snowplough and link those to turns, so that once you leave you will feel like a confident skier.

Where does it take place?

Our course takes place at Chill Factore, Trafford Way, Trafford Quays Leisure Village, Manchester M41 7JA.

How Do I get there?

Transport is provided to and from the location.  You’ll be collected from the Students’ Union at 6:00pm and dropped back there after the session at 9:15pm

Alternatives

Car

The Chill Factore is less than a four-mile drive from the city centre.  The venue is just off the M60 (Junction 10) and offers free parking.

Bus

There are a number of buses that run between the city centre and the Trafford Centre bus station.  The most frequent buses are the 250, 251 and X50 that leave from Piccadilly Gardens. For a route map and bus times, visit the TFGM website. http://www.tfgm.com/journey_planning/Pages/default.aspx 

Tram

The Metrolink tram from Manchester Piccadilly train station to Altrincham, alighting at Stretford station and boarding the Metrolink shuttle bus to the Trafford Centre.  For times, visit the Metrolink website.

What equipment will I need?

All equipment will be provided, but please ensure that you wear comfortable sportswear. Gloves won’t be provided so you need to bring your own or you will be refused entry to the slopes.

When does it start?

Our course begins on Tuesday 7th November 2017 and runs until Tuesday 21st November 2017. The sessions take place between 7:00pm and 9:00pm. .

How much is it?

It costs £60.00 for the Three-week course.

Get Into Snowboarding (3 Weeks)

Our Three-week beginner snowboarding lessons will help you construct a solid foundation of fundamental skills, such as getting a feel for your board , learning to snowplough and link those to turns, so that once you leave you will feel like a confident boarder.

Get Into Karate (6 Weeks)

Karate is a full-contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, from a variety of other combat sports and martial arts.

Our eight-week Karate course will introduce you to basics and teach you the techniques required to compete.

Where does it take place?

Our Karate course takes place in the multifunctional hall at our Brook Building in Manchester.

What equipment will I need?

Any equipment will be provided, please ensure that you wear comfortable sportswear.

When does it start?

Our course begins on Wednesday 18th October 2017 and runs until Wednesday 22nd November 2017. The sessions take place between 6:00pm and 8pm.

How much does it cost?

It costs £20.00 for the six-week course.
