English and Creative Writing

Alongside our full and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the Department of English offers a range of stand-alone short courses. Available to study as discrete, one-off units, many of these courses also provide the option to accrue credits towards a postgraduate qualification in either MA Creative Writing or MA English Studies

Encompassing a range of critical and creative subjects, our short courses are delivered by a team of fully research-active staff, widely published writers and industry-standard journalists.

The department also offers a number of continuous professional development training courses, including Teaching Creative Writing Workshop – developed to support the new A-Level in Creative Writing – and Journalism Skills for Creative Writers, delivering a range of skills and development opportunities to teachers, lecturers and other professionals.
