The University runs 19 halls of residence, with a range of comforts and services including en-suite bathrooms, catering and internet access. Some specifically cater for postgraduates. Private rented accommodation is also available through the University.

All the university halls of residence have internet access through a broadband connection and a helpdesk support team. We can provide purpose-built rooms suitable for students with mobility difficulties and most halls offer rooms which have been specially adapted for students with sensory impairments. You are also welcome to come and visit the accommodation to check the facilities and discuss your particular needs.

However not all students wish to live in halls of residence. More and more postgraduates are choosing to go into privately owned houses and the University can provide help, advice and information to give you the right options to suit your needs. Our accommodation officers can provide help in finding accommodation of all types, including family flats, studio flats and shared student houses for independent living. The accommodation officers can also provide contact details for private landlords, many of whom follow a code of practice agreed with the University.

The University is also a joint owner of Manchester Student Homes, a web-based accommodation service for students based at our Manchester campuses. Their website has details of many Manchester properties.
