Manchester Metropolitan University

Facilities

We boast some of the most up-to-date facilities available at a university.

Library Services

Each campus has an extensive library. Every subject taught here is comprehensively covered with a total of more than 800,000 books. You’ll be able to come and browse or you can always access our electronic libraries from the comfort of your own computer.

As one of our students you can also use the NoWAL service which gives students free access to collections of all other university libraries in the North West.

IT Facilities

We offer a comprehensive learning environment, with electronic books and journals, a virtual learning environment for students to communicate with tutors, and WiFi access across the University.

All the core software applications are available in the IT suites, and if you have any questions about using computers, there’s a helpdesk to support you.

The University has a number of high-spec engineering and science labs as well as a blood biochemistry lab, a biomechanics lab, a motor control lab, a muscle function and exercise performance lab, and a multi-media research lab.

There are lecture theatres and teaching rooms with state-of-the-art equipment, and a brand new language lab facility, featuring plasma wall screens and individual stations for private and independent working.

Our Art and Design facilities include the impressive painting studios in the original 1880 School of Art building as well as modern design spaces in the eight-storey Chatham tower, which offers panoramic views of central Manchester.

Media Services

As a student at the University, you can use video conferencing facilities, video recording suites with remote control cameras and languages suites to aid in your coursework. In addition, you can loan camcorders, digital cameras and other audio-visual equipment.
