Why study Tourism, Events and Hospitality?

Tourism, events and hospitality are well-established sectors not only generating billions of pounds, but also offering a diverse range of worldwide career paths. Our courses are developed to help you prepare for such opportunities, working with industry partners and professional bodies to make sure our teaching and research are aligned with the practical demands of the sector.

Our courses combine classroom and practical learning. From discussing the cutting-edge business practices informing modern-day industries, to organising events using strategic thinking. The skills you graduate with will set you up for the start of your career.

Why Manchester Met?

Get career ready

Our courses are designed with your career prospects in mind. Our careers and employability team hold regular events, for all business school students, that focus on professional and career development through guest lectures, workshops, and networking events. Some examples include Week 6: Go Global, Get Career Ready and Business without Borders.

Study your way

All our students have the option to study abroad or complete a placement year. You will enrol onto a three-year course and then decide, in your second year, which option is best for you.
Choose from one of our international partner institutions, and complete a year of your studies abroad, gaining insight into global industries. You can also learn on the job with a 12-month placement where you can gain real-world insight into your chosen field.

Networking opportunities

We offer a range of opportunities to develop your professional network. Attend networking events, and guest lectures, and connect with future employers such as Sacha Lord, Co-Creator of Parklife and the Warehouse Project.

Hospitality and Tourism students can also enrol onto our mentoring scheme in their final year. This allows you to gain a unique insight from those at the sharp end of the industry.

Graduate outcomes

Many of our graduates now work worldwide with a wide range of industry leading companies including Disney and the Radisson.

We have a dedicated careers team who will work with you, as a student, to enhance your employability and after you graduate to support the start of your journey into the world of work.

Student testimonial

The industry events that I have attended have given me the opportunity to network, network and network. This has not only given me the chance to seek advice and get some insights on the industry, but it has also inspired me to explore the industry in order to help me find a job that is suitable for me once I graduate.
