My profile

Biography

I completed an undergraduate in Psychology at the University of the Basque Country followed by a MRes in Neuroscience at the University of St Andrews.

Following that I underwent a PhD at the University of Manchester where I focused on studying individual differences in the cognitive and neuroimaging factors involved in pain perception and the psychological factors increasing the vulnerability to develop chronic pain.

Currently my main focus is on investigating the neuroscience of Parkinson’s Disease. Particularly I am using MRI, EEG and LFP measures to identify neuroimaging markers associated with cognitive and gait impairments in Parkinson’s disease.  Furthermore,  I am also involved in investigations using neuroimaging markers to study the link between sleep and neurodegeneration, as well as continuing the investigation of the factors associated with chronic pain vulnerability.

Interests and expertise

My main interests and expertise focus around  the neuroscience and psychology of chronic pain and Parkinson’s disease.

I am interested in MR and EEG markers associated with Parkinson’s disease, particularly I am interested in markers associated with gait and cognition.

In regards to chronic pain my interest is focused on the psychological variables and life events (e.g. trauma) that drive individual differences on the vulnerability to develop chronic pain.
