Biography

Dr Sarah Chamberlain Mitchell is a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. She is a qualified physiotherapist, with professional membership of the Health and Care Professions Council [HCPC], Chartered Society of Physiotherapy [CSP], British Thoracic Society [BTS], European Respiratory Society [ERS] and Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care [ACPRC]. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy [FHEA].

Sarah’s research interests are within Respiratory Medicine in particular Chronic Cough, COPD, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Interstitial Lung Disease.

Sarah has recently been awarded a NIHR Research for Patient Benefit (RfPB) award to explore Interstitial Lung Disease associated chronic cough. And is part of the British Thoracic Society Clinical Statement on Cough working group.

Sarah has close research links with colleagues in the NHS and globally. She has a honorary contract with Manchester Foundation Trust and is involved in research in chronic cough in Portugal, Canada and Sweden.

Prior to joining Manchester Metropolitan University, she worked as a Lecturer at Keele University and has worked in the NHS as a Respiratory Physiotherapist. 

Sarah is currently Joint Programme Lead for MSc/PGDip/PGCert Perioperative Medicine within Postgraduate Medicine at Manchester Metropolitan University. 

Sarah contributes to research and respiratory Physiotherapy teaching units across undergraduate and postgraduate Physiotherapy programmes at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Sarah is Joint programme lead and contributes to the teaching for MSc/PGDip/PGCert Perioperative Medicine within Postgraduate Medicine at Manchester Metropolitan University.
