Karen Meanwell

I had worked for 16 years in Secondary schools in Liverpool, Cheshire and Lincolnshire prior to joining MMU in 2009. During my time in schools I worked as a teacher of PE, Head of Girls’ PE and Head of PE. I also spent several years in a pastoral role as a Head of Year. I led local consortium bids for 14-19 diplomas and also worked closely with Edexcel with quality assurance of BTEC vocational programmes. In later years in schools I became involved in PGCE and GTP training programmes and took on the role of the lead practitioner for this within her school.

I teach on the Secondary PE PGCE course and have, in the past, contributed to the Professional Practice PGCE programme and the BA PE QTS Programme. My research, academic enterprise interests include mentor training and the development of effective subject knowledge within a school setting.
