Meet our 2013 honorary graduates

  • Baroness Joan Bakewell DBE OBE

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt), in recognition of her distinguished achievements as a writer and broadcaster. Her eminent career is an inspiration to the University’s staff, students and graduates.

  • Justin Fletcher MBE

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), in recognition of his outstanding work as an actor and TV presenter. His dedication to entertaining and educating young children and children with special educational needs is an inspiration to our staff and students.

  • Alan Garner OBE

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt), in recognition of his distinguished achievements as a writer and his outstanding contribution to literature.

  • Lawrence Grant

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development and evolution of Manchester Metropolitan University and represents the gratitude of staff and students for his invaluable commitment to the University.

  • Stephen Jenkinson

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (DSc), in recognition of his distinguished achievements within the waste management industry. His continued encouragement and support of the University provides invaluable opportunities for Manchester Metropolitan University staff, students and graduates.

  • The Right Reverend Nigel McCulloch

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Education (DEd), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Faith Communities in Greater Manchester and his distinguished achievements within the Church of England.

  • Professor Susan Roulstone

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Health (DH), in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the field of Speech and Language Therapy and the inspiration she represents to our staff, students and graduates.

  • Geoff Thompson MBE

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Education (DEd), in recognition of his distinguished achievements in the fields of sport, art, business and social inclusion. His outstanding commitment towards young people through the work of the Youth Charter is an inspiration to staff, students and graduates.

  • John Thornhill JP

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD), in recognition of his distinguished achievements in the fields of law, education and public service and in particular his outstanding contribution to the judicial system. The University is proud to be associated with its successful graduates.

  • David Threlfall

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts (DArts), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to film, television and theatre as both actor and director. The University is proud to be associated with its successful graduates of which he is an outstanding example.
