Step-by-step

  • Making your application

All applicants will receive an email when they become eligible to apply, once the application process opens. This email will include a link to our application portal, and further instructions on how to create an account. You will be asked to confirm your email, Student ID number and date of birth before being sent another link to create your password.

If you do not know your Student ID number, please refer to the offer letter that you received via email.

You will become eligible once you accept an Unconditional or Conditional offer of a place at Manchester Met, as your firm choice through UCAS. Please allow up to 3 working days after accepting your offer, to receive the invitation email.

Once your account is set up, you will be asked to provide some additional information to help us process your application. This will include details of any disability or health related needs and your nominated contacts.

You will be asked whether you would prefer Alcohol Free or single gender accommodation, but this is not something we can always guarantee.

If you declare any disability or health related needs, you will not be able to select a room until a member of the Student Living team has assessed your application.

It is important that the email you submitted as part of your University/UCAS application is up to date and correct. Remember to check your spam and junk folder.

During the booking process there is a section where you can identify what possible solutions can be provides in order to make your stay more comfortable. At this point your application will be on hold, until a member of our Residential Life team gets in touch. They will then talk through all available options with you.

  • Information for international students

The University has secured additional accommodation for students starting their studies in January.  This is not located within Manchester but is within a commutable distance of the Campus.

We strongly recommend that all students secure accommodation prior to travelling to the UK.  In particular, students expecting to bring families should not travel with their families unless they have secured their long-term accommodation in advance

If you select Manchester Met owned or leased accommodation you will be required to pay £1,500 of the total rent as a pre-payment of rent to secure the room. This will be deducted from your rent overall. The balance of the rent is collected in three parts, usually in October, January and April. For University partner halls charge varying pre-payments and may require you to complete a guarantor form.

Manchester Student Homes, a company owned and managed by Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester, also advertises many International Student Friendly properties who do not require a UK based guarantor. You can find out more details about this here

    • For more information on arriving to Manchester Metropolitan University as an international student please see the International Arrival information (this includes details on arriving at the airport, police registration, opening a bank account and registering with a GP).
    • For more information on living in the UK as an international student please see the International Living in the UK information (including details on managing money, paying council taxes international societies and more).
  • Information for postgraduate and family applicants

    Postgraduate accommodation

Manchester Met mainly accommodations undergraduates. So we would recommend that you contact Manchester Student Homes, for a larger selection of rooms.

    Families and couples accommodation

As we only offer single study bedrooms in our accommodation. These are not suitable for students accompanied by their partners or families. If you will be living with your partner or family we suggest you look into private accommodation.
