Safety and Security

Your safety and security is at the forefront of your University living experience.

Your safety and security is of our primary concern – and there are a whole host of ways you can keep yourself safe through following our guidelines and a little common sense!

Our accommodation is broadly quite safe, though it never hurts to exercise a little caution – so see what you can do to help both yourself and the people you will be living with.

Security services

Our security team is on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Offering crime prevention advice, patrolling the campus, investigating crimes and responding to alarms and emergencies – you can contact them for information and advice or to report an incident.

Personal Safety

It is always good to be aware of your personal safety and simple rules to maintain your safety. Remember to be cautious of uninvited visitors and take a moment to double check that your flat doors are locked – the accommodation has been designed to provide a safe environment, but there are still some straightforward safety procedures for you to follow too.

Visitors

While visitors are of course permitted, it is in everyone’s interests to be aware of uninvited visitors. Salespeople are not permitted to enter accommodation without proof of identity and an appointment.

Insuring your possessions

We offer a block insurance policy as part of your residency at Manchester Metropolitan University’s accommodation. This provides basic cover for your personal possessions. If you would like to upgrade your insurance to cover more valuable items, you can pay an additional sum to extend the standard policy.
