About my career

I started as an intern at a sports management company called Wasserman. After successfully finishing my internship, I was offered a contract and progressed within the company to become a Senior Executive a few years later.

I am now the Managing Director of Kairos Global Management, a global sports marketing and athlete representation company. I represent professional athletes in football, rugby and boxing. In addition, I consult national football federations on commercial opportunities and arrangements for international friendly matches arrangements.

My time at Manchester Met studying Sports Marketing Management really helped in preparing me for the sports industry. The modules that we studied at the university and the ways in which the lectures were delivered really equipped me to be able to achieve in the sports industry. In addition, the communication and presentation skills that Manchester Met helped me develop are proving to be very useful and needed in my line of work.

During my studies, I did a placement year as an account executive with Sport International Management, a sports agency based in London. If possible, I would advise that students undertake a placement. It helps you develop practical skills needed in your area of interest and assists in building your network.

Since completing my studies, I have continued my professional development and joined a Sports Law programme at Mishcon de Reya LLP to improve my knowledge of the legal areas of the sports industry.

My top tip for students is

I would advise students to be very proactive in finding work experience during their time studying and to develop a strategic career plan for entering their area of interest. Identifying the right mentors can help as well.

What I loved about Manchester Met

The lecturers at Manchester Metropolitan University are fantastic, they truly care about the development and success of the students and they consistently provided opportunities for everyone to get necessary work experience and achieve academically.
