About my career

My first job role after graduating was working for a law company in the admin department. Given the events occurring in the world at the time, I tried to get a position that would allow me to work on some of my skills and develop my ability to perform in a business environment

I currently work as a project controller for RQM+, the world’s largest regulatory and quality consulting firm focused on medical devices and diagnostics. I am responsible for performing management operations relating to assigning resources to the company’s ongoing projects.

Manchester Met has given me the skills required to succeed. The most vital of which have been time management, teamwork and the ability not to be phased by large amounts of data that require processing. Additionally, the experience of working with my tutor on my dissertation project has allowed me to experience what it is like in the real world when working with team members to deliver a project on time, with the correct desirables and to the best of my ability.

Since graduating I have completed my Association for Project Management (APM) Project Fundamentals Qualification and I am planning on pursuing the title of Chartered Project Professional (ChPP).

I was a course representative during my time at Manchester Met which aided in developing my skills for meetings in the workplace, particularly regarding creating minutes and familiarising myself with business meeting environments.

My top tip for students

Keep trying. The climate is tough at the moment and finding a job is not easy at the best of times. Don’t lose faith in your abilities because there is a company out there that will appreciate your many talents and where you will fit perfectly. It’s just a matter of time before they find you or you find them.

What I loved about my time at Manchester Met

I have loved the tight-knit and interactive lectures that were given during my time studying for my MSc, which made the subject topics interesting.
