About me

About my career

I choose to study at Manchester Metropolitan University, as I wanted to expand my studies in nutrition and gain more experience in research and lab techniques. My first job after graduating was as a dietitian in a gym in Athens, Greece. My current role is nutrition coach in a dance school. Diet Coaching is not something new that will be eventually degraded, or “something magical”, it just focuses on training our minds to make our dietary changes permanent.

The skills from Manchester Met that I have used most in my career so far are experience with research trends and health promotion. I did many placements in my postgraduate studies and I think they helped to better assess patients with pathological conditions. I would say that undertaking a placement is equal, or in some cases more fruitful than academic learning.

Since graduating, I have undertaken diet coach training. Through diet coaching, we guide everyone to take full control of their lives and their behaviours towards food. Through proper nutrition guidance and training, every individual sets their goals and learns coping techniques and practical solutions to stay true to their goals. No feelings of restriction or deprivation, but just the right food choices.

My top tip for students is

Don’t get disappointed if you don’t obtain your dream job right in the beginning of your career. We learn from our experiences and our mistakes. Manage your time to expand your academic background and be independent, and always find ways to be motivated.

I’m inspired by

People who feel enthusiastic about their job, their life, or their family, and who convey their enthusiasm and good energy.

Why I love Manchester Met

I loved the people and supportive environment. Our tutors were always there, to listen and help guide you. Also, there were always events or social activities to get involved in.
