About me

About my career

I chose Manchester Met as the course was focused on the practical side and offered opportunities such as business trips and employability events, where we could meet the companies and grow our network. Additionally, I was able to do an internship while studying which helped my career in the long run.

While writing my master’s thesis, I decided to explore the world even further and I applied for my first role as a Recruitment Assistant in Australia, Sydney. The advantage I had in securing this role was that I already had some work experience due to the internship and part-time job.

I am currently working as a Recruitment Marketing Expert in the global head office at DB Schenker. I love my current global role and working every day with different colleagues from around the world. I also love that the English language is the company’s official language, so I won’t lose my fluency in English, which I developed during my studies and work in Australia. In this role, I drive the projects, give training to my colleagues and share my knowledge with others. I also promote our content on social media and enjoy creating content with graphic tools.

During my studies, I took part in group projects and worked with students from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I learned various methods and ways of thinking which helped me in my career, being able to work independently and be open-minded towards different working cultures.

Presentation skills which I developed during my course, helped me build confidence to present in front of board members and run workshops with my colleagues in my current role.

Time management is a transferable skill that I developed at University by keeping coursework deadlines. In my role, I work on different projects at the same time, so having good time management skills is crucial.

My top tip for students is

While studying, try to get your hands on all different activities, internships that will eventually help you with your career. Start your networking early to develop relations outside your comfort zone and widen your horizons. You can learn from each other so much.

When applying for jobs, never think you’re not good enough. Even if you don’t fulfil all the requirements for the job, apply anyway. Keep in mind rejection is not a sign of failure it is a redirection. The right job will come eventually. Take all the experiences with you because your past experiences make you the person you will be one day. No experience is a bad one!

I’m inspired by

People who travel the world, learn from nature or reading, and enriching conversations with such people. Especially I admire female leaders who worked on different continents and lead organisations.
