"Manchester School of Art helped me to gain skills I could not have learnt anywhere else."
About my career

My undergraduate Fashion degree was the most inspirational and challenging time of my life. Studying at Manchester School of Art made such an impact on me, especially in my final year when I achieved so much with the help of the University. I was able to exhibit my graduate collection at Graduate Fashion week and won a number of awards. It kick-started my career and opened doors to becoming an established designer.

After graduating, I was offered a three-week internship through my LinkedIn profile to work for the fashion retailer AllSaints. From here, I progressed to a full time position as Womenswear Leather Design Assistant. I now work as part of a two-person team, researching and designing garments and accessories for each season.

I am lucky enough to have been able to travel to several of our factories in India. It is truly inspirational being able to see my designs go through all stages of production, from coming up with the initial ideas to seeing them being made on mass scale in the factories.

My top tip for students is…

I was initially offered an internship with AllSaints through LinkedIn. My advice to students is to get their LinkedIn profiles up to date and to use them! Connect with people; if they accept, give them a message.

Why I love Manchester Met

My time at Manchester Metropolitan University enabled me to gain skills that I could not have learnt anywhere else. I had access to the most incredible resources as a student and the support from my design tutors has helped me to get to where I am today.

I have kept in contact with my tutors since graduating from Manchester School of Art and feel as if I have made friends for life there.
