Covering the full range of business skills including strategy, finance, marketing, planning, leadership, managing people and sustainability, apprentices will discover powerful techniques used by some of the most successful companies in the world.

The programme has been designed by employers to produce management leaders committed to delivering long-term success for your organisation. The flexibility of the course allows apprentices to apply their learning directly to their own businesses, with projects focused on tackling company challenges from the outset.

Successful completion of this two-and-a-half-year programme will give your staff a BA (Hons) Business Management Professional bachelors business degree and professional accreditation with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Apprentices will be taught in our triple-crown accredited Business School.

Who is the programme for?

This programme has been specifically designed for individuals with existing management experience, which builds upon managerial concepts and develops strategic professionals, with the support of a university education.

Programme Content

Chartered Manager Fast-Track Executive Degree Apprentices will develop lifelong skills in strategic leadership. The programme will leave graduates with the experience and competence necessary to take successful long-term managerial responsibility for people, projects, operations and services within your business.

The early units provide an introduction to strategic leadership, operations and technology, sales, marketing and business finance. Apprentices will be encouraged to demonstrate how they can apply these skills and worldwide best practice at work.  

Later units explore project management, strategy, digital technologies in business and leadership techniques. Apprentices will reconcile their learning at the end of the year with a substantial work-based project and through the creation of a business portfolio, demonstrating the way in which they have continually applied their knowledge directly to the context of your organisation.

Overall, the programme aims to develop confident and capable leaders of the future, ready for the fast-paced and evolving 21st Century business environment.

Delivery Model

This fast track programme allows apprentices to complete the course in two-and-a-half-years. Apprentices will work full-time, while studying towards a Bachelor of Arts degree accredited by Manchester Metropolitan University. Attendance at University for intensive teaching blocks is required for around 12 days each year. 

Apprentices will also be expected to spend additional time on self-study, development opportunities and tutor-supported online learning. University tutors and academics will conduct regular reviews, ensuring one-to-one support is also provided for each apprentice. 

Apprentices will be encouraged to negotiate business projects with their employer to ensure their learning is applied directly to their organisation.

Final Degree Award

At the end of the two-and-a-half-year programme, successful graduates will receive a BA (Hons) Business Management Professional bachelors business degree and professional recognition as Chartered Managers and members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI).  

Entry Requirements

The programme recognises existing managerial competency and experience. Applicants will be assessed on an individual basis. Typically successful applicants will have a suitably significant track record in a management role and appropriate qualifications at Level 4 or 5.

All applicants must have Level 2 (GCSE) Maths and English grades A*-C, or acceptable equivalents, or must commit to completing this alongside the programme.


Employers with a payroll in excess of £3 million will be subject to the Apprenticeship Levy and any funds paid out can be used to fund participation in apprenticeship programmes. Employers with a payroll below £3 million are eligible for funding, which will cover at least 95% of the cost of apprenticeship programmes.
