The University’s Degree Apprenticeships Unit hosted its first Open Evening of the academic year.
With over 1,000 students, parents and careers advisers registering to attend to find out more about our programmes and to speak to employers, this was our most successful Degree Apprenticeship Open Evening to date.
The event, which took place on Tuesday 26 November, saw 16 employer partners speaking to delegates eager to find out more about the opportunities on offer.
University lecturers delivered talks throughout the evening, to give attendees an overview of each of the courses on offer: Chartered Manager, Digital & Technology Solutions, Digital Marketer and Laboratory Scientist. Students interested in digital courses were also among the first to be told about our exciting new Digital User Experience (UX) course, due to launch in September.
Liz Gorb, Director of Apprenticeships at Manchester Metropolitan, said: “The Open Evening was a fantastic success and was our most popular event yet. The success of our Degree Apprenticeships grows year on year and it was a great opportunity to speak to school leavers, parents, families and friends about how Degree Apprenticeships work and how to apply, culminating in an inspiring Q&A session with some of our current apprentices.
“Our employer partners exhibiting at the event commented on the high calibre of the individuals they met and the success of the event in bringing them together with a large pool of potential applicants.”
University partners who supported the event included Access, AstraZeneca, Barclays, Epix Systems Ltd, Fujitsu, IBM, John Hogg, Koderly, McDonald’s, Smart DCC, Stateside Foods, Syngenta, Thales and Unilever.
Following the success of the event, registration is now open for the next Degree Apprenticeship Open Evening on Thursday 12 March 2020. This event will give attendees the opportunity to speak to employers about the vacancies available for September 2020.
