Ashwin Kumar
Professor of Social Policy │ Manchester Metropolitan University

The UK’s employment rate is at an historic high, but so is in-work poverty.
Twenty years ago, the solution to poverty used to be thought of as getting people into work; today we have an epidemic of low-paid work with little chance of progression.

In this free seminar Ashwin will look at the current relationship between the UK’s productivity and low-pay and explore the role of gender.

Ashwin has a wealth of experience in this field and is a respected commentator on social policy and appears regularly on TV and in print discussing productivity, poverty, working conditions for people on low wages, housing and household incomes.

Please note you must be a member of the Academy NW to attend an event and if you are not yet a member you will be prompted to join when booking. Membership and services are free and details can be found on our web pages.
