Jean Sprackland at The Launch of the Brand-New Children’s Poetry Archive

As Chair of the Poetry Archive, Professor Jean Sprackland will be speaking at a celebratory event at the House of Illustration in London on Wednesday.

This week sees the launch of the brand-new Children’s Poetry Archive. As Chair of the Poetry Archive, Professor Jean Sprackland be speaking at a celebratory event at the House of Illustration in London on Wednesday, talking to an audience of children and adults about the importance of listening for pleasure, and introducing special guest poet Michael Rosen.

Jean Sprackland is Professor of Creative Writing at the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University. 

She has published four collections of poetry, most recently Sleeping Keys, published in 2013. Her previous collection Tilt won the Costa Poetry Award in 2008, and her books have also been shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize and the Forward Prize. Jean is also the author of Strands: A Year of Discoveries on the Beach, which won the Portico Prize for Non-Fiction in 2012.

Jean's research interests are in creative writing: principally poetry, but also non-fiction writing about place and landscape.

The Children's Poetry Archive is a place where everyone can listen to poetry.  The Poetry Archive has been set up to make new recordings, copy them onto CDs and put them onto this website so that they can be heard by everyone. You can find out more here: https://www.childrenspoetryarchive.org/
