Matt is a PRG studying at Manchester Metropolitan University. His thesis focuses on the legacy of postmodernism in late 20th and early 21st century American literature, interrogating how the cyclical concerns of postmodernism remain relevant today.

He completed an MA in Contemporary Literature (Distinction) and a BA (Hons) in English Literature and History (2.1) at Leeds Beckett University.

Matt's research interests focus on postmodernism, post-postmodernism, avant-garde and experimental fiction largely drawn from post-WW2 America. He is also interested in a range of continental theory, particularly post-structuralism, feminism, contemporary politics, and attempts to theorise an ‘after’ postmodernism.

Matt has published on the postmodern American author Dennis Cooper with Inter-disciplinary Press, and presented various papers on American fiction of this period at both national and international conferences (including British Association of American Studies, The American Weird: Ecologies & Geographies, and 50 Shades of Popular Culture).
