Filmmaking Lecturer has new exhibition at the National Museum of Iceland

The Book of Lies is a three screen film installation at the National Museum of Iceland by Filmmaking Lecturer Chris Paul Daniels.

Opening on Saturday 7th September 2019 until January 2020.

The film was commissioned by Curated Place and Einkofi Productions and features original music by Associate Lecturer Graham Massey (808 State) and a voiceover by UTA's Alicia Prowse.

Chris Daniels is a Lecturer in Filmmaking at Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Chris is an Artist and Filmmaker originally from Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
His work is characterised by experimental documentation of communal perspectives and memories regarding geographical location.

After graduating from the Royal College of Art, he won the 2010 Deutsche Bank Award in Art, for his collaborative project with Maria Anastassiou – Unravel; the longest hand painted film in Britain. It resulted in over 100 interactive public events across the UK, including Tate Britain, BFI Southbank, CCA Glasgow, No.w.here, AND Festival, Turner Contemporary and installations at IKON Gallery, Chisenhale Gallery, and the National Media Museum.

Recent residencies with the British Council, Gasworks Gallery and Triangle Network include projects in Nairobi and China that resulted in feature length experimental documentaries, whilst commercial commissions include Virgin Records 40th Anniversary Exhibition (with Sam Meech and Kelvin Brown), and live collaborations for international music projects in China, Iceland, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

Chris was one of the final judges on the 2015 DBACE Awards in the category of Film and Photography and encourages all final year Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students to apply for the £10,000 Award. (http://www.dbace.uk.com)

His major group exhibition was for the exhibition 'SAFE' at HOME in Manchester.
