Biography

Senior Lecturer within Manchester Fashion Institute, at Manchester Metropolitan University, with over 20 years’ experience of designing and delivering high quality learning & teaching in the areas of technical textiles and high-performance apparel. I currently teach and co-ordinate Fashion Textiles to both UG and PGR students. My textile experience has extended to delivering tailored units to the wider University in textiles testing for sports apparel to forensic analysis of fibres. Fellow member of the ‘Textile Institute’ and fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Innovative Textiles Support Knee brace. Consumer analysis of injuries, exercise, and sport. Consumer perceptions and product analysis.

World Rugby Project. Assessing the implementation of breast padding for female athletes

Low Pressure Plasma Processes for colour saturation on textile materials

To contribute to the development of a virtual fabric library within CLO3D. The virtual library may also sit alongside other creative software, namely Browzwear and Optitex.

1. Human-Focussed Quality Management (HFQM) Framework towards performance excellence for Malaysian ready-to-wear Garment Industry (1st Supervisor). Project was fully funded by Malaysian Government. PHD

2. The Application of Auxetic Structures for Rugby Shoulder Padding (Principal Supervisor). Project was funded by MFI. PHD.

3. The Collaborative buyer and supplier relationship (BSR) applied to the product development stage in the contemporary UK fast fashion and rapid fashion market (1st Supervisor). Project was fully funded by MMU.

4. Investigation of Insect Bite Hypersensitivity IBH and Pruritus in Equids and Research into the Concept of a Smart Textile Delivery Systems to Treat the Condition (1st Supervisor & joint Principal Supervisor duties). Project was self-funded. Masters by Research.

5. The impact of fast fashion, consumer behaviour and fashion brands communication on sustainability (Principal Supervisor). Project was funded by MFI. Masters by Research.
