Ideas into action

We are providing an exciting opportunity for staff to get involved in sustainability and have a positive impact here at Manchester Met and beyond.

With our staff and students' proven passion for sustainability at the heart of this programme - we are giving staff the chance to submit ideas for action and change. Ideas linked to sustainability that can be developed into projects which will have a lasting impact on and off campus will be supported by the Environment team – encouraging and leveraging on a culture of collaboration.

With over 3,000 staff and 40,000 students, world-class research facilities and trailblazing academics - we have the resources to make a positive impact both at the University and within the local community.

How will it work?

Submit and idea (or ideas!) linked to at least one of our twelve sustainability areas - set out in our
Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2014 – 2020.

Get Involved

We are looking for all kinds of ideas, big and small, from across the University suggested by individuals, as a team or department, or with friends and colleagues. In doing so you will get the chance to do something outside of your day-to-day role, meet and collaborate with like-minded colleagues, learn more about sustainability and enhance your skills and development.

We’re looking for ideas that will...

  • Enhance awareness, knowledge and understanding of sustainability among staff, students and the local community
  • Create environmental improvements to our estates and operations
  • Embed sustainability within our learning, teaching and research
  • Create partnerships with local communities
