Young Voices Study

Exploring Experiences of Hearing Voices for Young People and their Parents or Caregivers.

Over the next few months, clinical psychologists and researchers Dr Sarah Parry and Dr Filippo Varese will be working closely with expert-by-experience groups and NHS children's services to develop a greater understanding of what tailored support is required for young people who hear voices and their families.

Senior members of the research team, Professors Tony Morrison and Rebecca Lawthom, will also be supporting the development of the project, with a view to expanding the work over the next twelve months. This project is currently sponsored by a collaborative funding venture between the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, a joint initiative to promote further exploration of important issues relating to people’s health and wellbeing.

If you might be interested in talking to the team about your experiences of hearing voices during childhood or as the parent/carer of a young person (aged 18 years and under) who hears voices, please contact: youngvoicesstudy@mmu.ac.uk
