Community Research Awards

Manchester Met’s Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care will be running a new scheme to work in partnership with community groups.

Have you ever needed an external evaluation of the service you offer? Would you benefit from research to support you in bidding for additional funding, for example to the Big Lottery or local community award? The Faculty is looking to work with community groups who might not have worked with the University before, as well as established groups.

We will partner your community group with an experienced researcher who will work with you to develop the scope for the research and who will carry out the research you need. We are looking to fund four projects, which will last up to 6 months. From training community volunteers, to evaluating an exercise programme, to researching the evidence for your service, we have a wealth of expertise and knowledge that your group can access.

If you have never worked with the university before and are not sure whether this is something for you, get in touch with a member of the engagement team for an informal chat on 0161 247 3393 or email

The Community Research Awards will launch at the Birley Community Day on Sunday 18th October 2015. Staff from the Faculty of Health, Pschology and Social Care will be on hand to offer you further guidance and support.
