Birley Orchard

The Birley Community Orchard is a space created for the community, as well as the staff and students at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Housing twenty-two fruit trees, the orchard will include four different varieties of pear, plum, cherry and apple trees, all grown and nurtured by Hulme Community Garden Centre before being planted at Birley Campus. Designed as a space for education and relaxation, the orchard area will also be an important habitat for wildlife.

Orchard Workshops!

We'll be working with Hulme Community Garden Centre, staff, students and the local community to take care of the Community Orchard. We're looking for Manchester Met staff and students, and communities to take part in orchard maintenance workshops throughout the year.
