Pick your own

As part of the Birley Sustainability Trail there are options for staff, students and local community to ‘pick your own’ and enjoy what we are growing on our edible campus.

An abundance of culinary herbs are grown in our Sensory Garden which are available to all. Look out for the ‘How to Harvest’ guidelines, which will be available by each planter to ensure herb plants remain healthy for the future.

We hope to create community partnerships so that the so that produce is utilised for learning about growing herbs and for culinary purposes. If you are a community member and would like to harvest some of the herbs at Birley, contact us at bigimpact@mmu.ac.uk.

We are also working with Hulme Community Garden Centre to harvest Lavender, for a community project making lavender bags and hand-made soaps.
