Stronger employment prospects for PR students

MMU becomes 'a PRCA university'

MANCHESTER Metropolitan University Business School can now offer even stronger employment prospects to its graduates.

A new link-up with the public relations body - the PRCA – means we can offer students free access to the PRCA’s professional-level online training courses, membership and networks.

The PRCA is the professional body that represents UK PR consultancies, in-house communications teams and PR freelancers, and membership means students can access information about current work placements and graduate training scheme opportunities.

“It all adds up to even better value for money for our students with even more employment opportunities,” says Mel Powell, course leader for the MSc in International Public Relations.

Industry influence

Their new university partnership network ensures that university courses in public relations provide students with the practical knowledge and experience that are needed by the industry and by employers.

“We are delighted that the PRCA has chosen us as one of the few PR course providers in the UK which its members rate as a trustworthy source of new entrants to the profession,” said Mel.

“As a Qualifications Centre for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), we have delivered professionally recognised public relations programmes for some years and have an excellent employment rate because our programmes combine academic rigour with practical skills.

Undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students at Manchester Metropolitan University can start benefiting from our links with PRCA when they have registered online at:

- The PRCA, or the Public Relations Consultants Association works to raise standards in PR and communications and supports its members by providing industry data, sharing best practice and providing networking opportunities.
