The University was presented with the “UK Apprenticeship Award” at an awards ceremony at the Raddison Hotel in Manchester, sharing the accolade with the Juice Academy in a competitive category featuring a range of innovative organisations and projects.
The award recognises Manchester Metropolitan for the achievements of its apprenticeships programme, being one of the first institutions in the country to be part of the fully funded and industry-developed Degree Apprenticeship.
Liz Gorb, Director of Apprenticeships at Manchester Metropolitan, said: “Winning this award is a fantastic recognition of the impact of our Degree Apprenticeship programmes.
“Since launching the first programme in 2015, more than 650 apprentices have joined Degree Apprenticeships at the Manchester Metropolitan, which has enabled them to progress both academically and professionally.”
Now in its fourth year, the Educate North Awards celebrate, recognise and share best practice and excellence in the education sector in the North.
In further award success for Manchester Metropolitan, the Business School has been shortlisted in the “Outstanding Employer Engagement Strategy” category of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2018.
The shortlisting recognises the development of unique and mutually beneficial partnerships with employers across the Business School’s wide range of education offerings.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 21 in London.
