Many companies and organisations who operate across the world have regional or global training schemes. Some may offer UK based graduate training programmes, which then enable you to progress your career through their overseas locations.
Due to the current uncertainty around “Brexit” and the implications for UK nationals working in Europe, it is unclear which companies will offer European wide graduate schemes. You should check with each organisation and the latest information from Gov.uk/department-for-exiting-the-european-union.
It is important to start your search early as many large organisations close their graduate schemes well before the end of the academic year. Be open minded about the opportunities, as many organisations will have a variety of roles covering all aspects of the business functions. Some organisations will require a specific degree discipline and a second language but more importantly, they will look for evidence of a global outlook and a willingness to relocate if required.
The following list is a sample of companies who have offered international opportunities previously. Their schemes are aimed at final year or postgraduate students and usually start in the autumn following the application closing date.

Associated British Foods is a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group with sales of £13.4bn, 130,000 employees and operations in 50 countries across Europe, southern Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia. They have opportunities across a variety of companies.
AstraZeneca focus on the discovery, development, manufacturing and commercialisation of prescription medicines for some of the world’s greatest healthcare challenges. Manufacturers of health and skin care products such as Nivea sun creams and Elastoplast. Beiersdorf offers an 18 to 24-month BEYOND BORDERS trainee programme for graduates to gain insights into different departments and experience a six-month foreign placement.
Bombardier is a leading aeroplane manufacturer. Their 18-month programme includes multiple tracks in functions such as engineering, logistics, business development, finance, human resources and IT/information services.

The Future Leaders Programme (FLP) is aimed at professionals with post-graduate degrees who want to accelerate their progression to leadership roles in business. The global programme operates across the various business disciplines and consists of two 24-month assignments, one of which could be international.
BSH Hausgeräte GmbH is the largest manufacturer of home appliances in Europe. Their 12 to 15-month trainee programme includes three months at a subsidiary abroad (e.g. China, India, the US and the Netherlands) learning the specific requirements and special features of the market in your respective country of deployment.

UK Fast Stream Diplomatic Service:
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) protects and develops British interests around the world, through the FCO in London and a network of 270 diplomatic posts in 160 countries.

Work in the EU institutions - Graduate Entry
If you are looking to work with the EU institutions, you can apply for the Administrator profiles at grade AD5 to become a permanent official. As an Administrator, you can find yourself playing a key role in the EU’s processes with a high degree of responsibility from an early stage in your career.
