Professor Christine Horrocks

Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Cheshire Campus

Christine is Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Cheshire Campus; a creative and multidisciplinary Faculty located in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. The Cheshire Campus offers unique courses in Arts, Business, Education, Humanities and Sport Science. Joining Manchester Metropolitan University in 2011, Christine has held several senior positions taking over as Pro-Vice Chancellor for the Cheshire Campus in 2016.

Christine's academic background is in Psychology. She completed her PhD, which focussed on the psychology of life course transitions, at the University of Huddersfield where she became Director of the Centre for Applied Psychological Research. In her senior leadership roles she has managed a range of change-based agendas, always working to improve standards and deliver high quality teaching and research. She has a wealth of international experience establishing programmes in Singapore while at the University of Bradford and also holding the post of Associate Dean for International here at Manchester Metropolitan University.

As Professor of Applied Social Psychology Christine has worked with a range of agencies completing funded research projects investigating a series of policy interventions focussing on understanding health related behaviour and behaviour change. Her research includes collaboration with the probation service investigating coercive treatment interventions for drug and alcohol misuse. She has also worked consistently with the NHS undertaking and supporting the monitoring and evaluation of health interventions. Most recently, she is part of a research team that in 2016 secured Knowledge Transfer Partnership funding; working collaboratively with Nuffield Health to develop 'personalised' health assessments. Christine is committed to supporting academic excellence and continues to supervise and examine PhD research
