Rob is the Head of Interdisciplinary Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University's Cheshire campus in Crewe. Rob's 23 year career spans across 3 different universities in Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire and a consistent theme throughout his career has been a focus on the relationship between policy and practice. Rob is a Professor of Public Policy with research interests within two main areas: the international movement of ideas and practices in education and social policy along with interagency working and trans-professionalism.
Rob has published work on inter and trans-professionalism which has attracted attention from scholars and educators around the world. His work is cited in health and education professional training programmes in Canada, Australia and the USA, and he was recently elected President of the Special Interest Group on Education Human Services Linkages for the American Education Research Association which has members in 16 countries. He has attracted funding and led international research projects funded by the European Union and Banco Santander amongst others over the past 3 years.
Rob is passionate about working in partnership in Cheshire, across the region and internationally. He has established strong links with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, the Directors of Public Services across the North West and key third sector and voluntary sector leaders such as Age UK and MIND. He is Vice Chair of Mental Health for NHS Cumbria.
Rob is a keen walker and sports enthusiast, particularly football and cricket. He was formerly an active amateur musician, playing a number of instruments including saxophone and bass guitar.
