Dr. Wasiq KHAN is working at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK in the Intelligent System research Lab. Currently, He is Technical Manager of an EU funded Research project (iBorderCtrl: http://www.iborderctrl.eu/) where he is working on Automated Deception Detection research. Dr. KHAN is research active in the domains of Machine learning, Real time video processing, Speech processing and Recognition, Real time data analysis, Probabilistic fuzzy modelling, and Intelligent reasoning. Previously, Wasiq has been working as a PostDoc Research Associate at Intelligent Systems Lab, University of Central Lancashire; focusing research and development of the intelligent systems with diverse applications. One of his successful delivered research project is the Flight Guardian (http://www.aerospace.co.uk/news/140915-natep-projects): a first of a generation disruptive cockpit technology to improve the flight safety by real-time monitoring of the cockpit instruments. Other research projects He participated include health assessment based on imagery and sensor data, autonomous drone navigation and control, and intelligent task reallocation system.
Working as a Research Fellow at Intelligent Systems Research Lab, Reading University, Wasiq was mainly involved in Pathological Gait analysis and Bayesian inference modelling in CORBYS: a cognitive control framework for robotic systems (http://www.corbys.eu/). CORBYS was funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Program focusing robotic systems that have symbiotic relationship with humans using advanced multi-sensor system to facilitate dynamic environment perception to endow the robotic systems with high-level cognitive capabilities such as situation-awareness and attention control. He introduced a novel algorithm for Hip angular motion based Gait sub-phase segmentation without machine supervision. Wasiq also developed a Bayesian inference model based person state monitoring that uses a multi-layered beliefs from several information resources to assess real time situation.
Wasiq has also been working as an Assistant Lecturer at the School of Computing & Engineering, Bradford University. He taught different Computer Science modules to Under-Garduate and Post-Graduate students. He is advisor for a number of Ph.D students. He has been publishing in high impact Journals and international Conferences as well as reviewing world leading Journals. He also possesses expertise in Research Funding applications with collaboration to Academic and Industry partners.
Reviewer for the International Journals and Conferences:
Other responsibilities include:
Introduction to Java Programming
Dr. KHAN is research active in the domain of Computational Intelligence and Data Science with interdisciplinary application areas. He has been publishing in high impact peer reviewed Journals and Conference proceedings.
