Apprentices shown the value of AI AR VR MR technology

Degree apprentices at Manchester Metropolitan attended a demonstration of the latest artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies at the University’s Business School.

Mike Taulty, a Developer Evangelist at Microsoft Ltd, joined Manchester Metropolitan’s Creative AR and VR Hub team where Dr Timothy Jung and Alasdair Swenson, demonstrated the value of AI, AR, VR and MR for business and academic applications, supported by Damyon Garrity.  The apprentices were taken on a journey displaying the benefits of AR and VR across many industries, featuring a wide range of projects the Creative AR and VR Hub are involved with which included:

·      A 360 VR flight experience through the Lake District, which apprentices viewed using headsets

·      Actiphons – showcasing the innovative use of AR for education

·      Pulmonary Rehabilitation using VR – evaluating the benefits of VR for rehabilitative healthcare

The presentation concluded with an overview of the upcoming ‘4th International AR&VR Conference’ at Manchester Metropolitan University which will be held on the 21st and 22nd June 2018.
