Dr Timothy Jung invited to speak for the DIT (Department for International Trade) in Berlin.

Stephan Schindler, Exozet and VRBB opened an expert panel at the Berlin event to explore funding opportunities for German businesses to work with immersive tech companies in Britain.

Mark Leaver, Creative/Digital Adviser, DIT presented an overview of the R&D landscape for VR/AR across Britain and how the UK government supports this.  The UK represents the largest VR market in EMEA, worth £0.8bn by 2021, and will be the fastest growing market at 76% CAGR (PwC). He also demonstrated how entertainment and brands use technology to create immersive experience.

Encouraging collaboration, Mark Leaver introduced the audience to funding opportunities in the North of England and UK initiatives including ‘Audiences of the future’, a £33 million fund supporting immersive technologies for businesses and researchers to work together.

Dr Timothy Jung, Director of the Creative AR & VR Hub and Reader in Immersive Technology at Manchester Metropolitan spoke about immersive tech sector in North England and also demonstrated how enterprise and healthcare use technology to create immersive experience, supplemented by showcasing projects underway at the Creative AR & VR Hub spanning tourism, sports, health, education, heritage, museums and retail.  Further, he went to describe how UK universities work with immersive tech businesses.
