Train to teach
Being a teacher is about more than teaching a subject. It’s about more than keeping a class entertained.
Teaching is building their confidence. Finding new ways to explain concepts. Encouraging your class to constantly explore and continue learning.
You won’t always have the answer but you’ll work it out together. That’s the challenge of being a teacher.
Can you inspire, engage and explain?
You might teach the same pupils in the same classroom but every day is different. That’s the challenge of being a teacher. At Manchester Met, our PGCE programmes help to prepare you for a career as a primary or secondary school teacher.
Unsure how to begin your journey into teacher? Attend one of our PGCE drop-in sessions. You’ll meet some of the academic staff on our PGCE Primary and Secondary courses and we’ll give you advice on writing your UCAS application and gaining school experience.

I SPEAK VERY HIGHLY OF THIS PGCE, THERE’S A LOT OF TEACHER TRAINING ACTUALLY IN SCHOOLS, WHICH IS NOT ONLY IMPORTANT FOR BECOMING A TEACHER, BUT ALLOWS ME TO SOAK UP AND LEARN FROM OTHER TEACHERS AND GET TIPS AND KNOWLEDGE FROM OBSERVING THEM.
Below, you’ll find a list of all of the PGCE courses we offer at Manchester Met.
