Your journey starts here.

At Manchester Met, we’ve been educating teachers, practitioners and professionals for nearly 150 years.

As a student at one of the largest teacher training establishments in the North West, you’ll not only benefit from our years of experience, but you will also be part of a large, collaborative cohort. You’ll be practising your classroom skills alongside hundreds of other trainee teachers in our specialist facilities, as well as in your placement settings with one of our 500 school and education partners.

You can choose from a wide portfolio of courses and take advantage of great student support. You’ll have access to personal tutors, individual mentoring and placements across a variety of schools.

Take your first step with one of the North West’s most established providers of teacher training. Make a lasting impact on the future of the pupils you teach.

We have specialist lecturers who have all been teachers in schools themselves, so we have a unique view on what it's like to train to be a teacher. This helps us make sure you know exactly what you've got to do when you start teaching.

Effective Placements

Your placement helps you make sure you’re ready for the job. You’ll spend 120 days on placement across two schools to develop your teaching skills. We have partnerships with a variety of schools, from inner city and rural settings to mixed or single gender, all of which helps you to broaden your experience of different types of teaching.

Constant Support

We’re a close-knit community of experienced educators. Teacher training can be challenging and we will be here to support your professional development and personal wellbeing every step of the way. You’ll have support from a personal tutor, a professional mentor and subject or class mentor for each placement. You’re not on your own, often you’ll be on placement with other trainees, so you can support each other too.

Brilliant Facilities

You’ll learn in dedicated facilities to deliver your teacher training in a classroom environment. Learning to teach in a classroom that looks like the ones you’ll work in helps you understand how you can use your classroom space to better teach your students. Practising scenarios to prepare you for both your placement and your career ahead.

Research with Impact

Research is one of our three core strategies. It influences everything we do. It puts you at the forefront of teacher training, influencing what you’ll learn and who you’ll be learning from. We have an outstanding, world-class Education research department, with 100% of our research impact in Education rated as world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).
