With a BSc (Hons), MSc, and PGCE I have worked for over 25 years in a variety of high school settings where I principally taught physical sciences but also mathematics and control technology. I have had a number of pastoral roles and been head of faculty in two schools.
More recently I have been involved in developing a Competency Curriculum which formed part of the Opening Minds initiative. I have also completed the Management Development Programme organised by Manchester Airport Group. I have worked closely with Teach First in Manchester since 2006 as well as with MMU through the ITT programme in school. In Jan 2010 I joined MMU and worked extensively on the development of the physics enhancement course at the Cheshire campus.
I mainly teach on the secondary sciences programme. My research and academic interests include exploring how project-based learning and a more holistic approach to classroom teaching can affect children's experience of learning science, particularly physics.
