I have worked for seventeen years in secondary education where I have experienced a variety of roles including both Pastoral and Head of Department responsibilities. Following that I worked in Stockport Local Authority in a consultancy capacity across secondary and special school settings, where most of my work involved providing effective CPD for teachers and working alongside them in the classroom.
In 2009 I joined MMU in a part time capacity, teaching on the MEC9 and BA programmes. This work has developed and I now teach on the Secondary Mathematics PGCE and the MEC programmes. My Masters dissertation was focused upon the conceptual and instrumental experiences gained by the SKE groups at MMU and how these affected their pedagogical values in the classroom.
In 2011 I became an LA tutor for the Primary MaST programme and was involved with training both Cohorts 2 and 3. My academic interests include exploring the transition between primary and secondary school, the development of rich tasks for use in the classroom and the benefits of Assessment for Learning.
Currently, I am part of the pilot programme for University Schools and am one of the four tutors involved with this exciting and innovative development for the Faculty of Education.
