I worked for 8 years in a primary school where I led mathematics throughout the school and was also a
Leading Mathematics Teacher for a local education authority. Following that I worked for Wythenshawe Education Action Zones as a Numeracy Quality Development Teacher in Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. In 2008 I joined a local authority as a Primary Mathematics Consultant. In 2011 I joined Manchester Metropolitan Universityas a Senior Lecturer for Primary/ Secondary Mathematics.
I teach on the Primary Undergraduate BA (Hons) in Primary Education and the PGCE Primary programme including School Direct. From 2011-2014 I was involved in teaching on the post graduate Mathematics Specialist Teacher Programme (MaST).
I am currently Unit Leader for the Core Curriculum for both the Primary PGCE and School Direct. I am also the Teaching and Learning Lead for the Primary PGCE course.
My research interests include developing students mathematical subject knowledge and assessment in mathematics within the primary school. Assessment within the primary school was the focus of my MSc.
