For many years I worked as a special needs teacher in mainstream settings in Greece and the UK. My first BA in philosophy and pedagogy equipped me with a strong background in philosophy of education and pedagogy. I then decided to pursuit another BA in Special Education due to a strong personal interest and involvement with disability groups and organisations for many years.
In my postgraduate studies I engaged with disablity issues from social and philosophical perspectives and in my PhD research I looked at school leadership practices for inclusion using compexity theory.
Currently, I am participating in a reseach project looking at how ITE prepares student teachers for inclusive practice in Ireland.
My research interests lie on the areas of inclusive education, educational leadership and professional identities. I am particularly interested in the use of narrative methodologies and life history methods.
In 2014, I joined MMU and I am teaching at several programmes.
I am leading SEN teaching for the BA (Hons) Primary Education and I teach on the BA primary, NASENCo and Education Studies programmes.
