I worked for a number of years in secondary education, most recently in Cheshire and Wirral, as a teacher of MFL and a school leader. I was seconded from school to work as a regional advisor for Government Departments, networking with practitioners and organisations in the North West to promote and develop effective CPD practices. I also worked with Teachers TV as a CPD Adviser and later as a Local Authority Induction Coordinator and CPD Adviser, also contributing to school Support Staff development. I joined MMU in November 2010 and work primarily on the work-based masters programmes in Teaching and Learning and contributes to other teachers' CPD programmes.
I have research interests in effective CPD practices and how appropriate professional learning opportunities that contribute to the development of teachers impact on learning opportunities for children and ultimately on school standards.
