The Department of Engineering comprises more than 60 academic staff and post-doctoral researchers, supported by an experienced technical team and a wide range of specialist equipment and resources.

Teaching and learning in the Department are employability-focused, with a focus on practical skills and knowledge that reflects what students will do in engineering roles when they graduate.

Study in the department

We offer a broad and flexible range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in Engineering with a commitment to maintaining our high teaching standards. We place a strong emphasis on computer technology, computer-based design and the application of information technology in engineering. The majority of full-time courses offer a placement year in industry and we have well-established links for study or work experience worldwide.

The Dalton International Scholarship

The Department of Engineering aims to support the leaders of tomorrow in engineering. We are offering ten Dalton International Scholarships worth £5,000 each to all self-funded international students who enrol on a full-time taught programme.
