Biography

Noushin Karimian obtained her BEng and then her PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Manchester in 2014. She was then a Research Associate at The University of Manchester on various national and international projects, where she also carried out teaching for BSc/BEng, MSc and PhD-level courses. She then continued her research and teaching ambitions as a Lecturer. She is currently a lecturer at the Department of Engineering and teaches on UG and PG courses of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She is also the unit leader of the MSc ‘Individual Engineering Research Project’ for all MSc Pathways.

Noushin has more than 10 years of academic experience of working on numerous national and international projects within the UK institutions. She is a co-author of more than 50 international conference and journal papers and has a registered patent. Her main research interests include electromagnetic sensors for NDT applications and digital signal processing.

Dr. Karimian has been actively involved both as technical and organizational committee member of large international conferences, and most recently the European Microwave Conference.

Noushin has won numerous national and international prizes and awards and is on the editorial and reviewal team for numerous journals and research councils, respectively.

She is a Fellow of the HEA, member of IEEE, IET, EuMA, BINDT, and IOP. She is currently the chairperson of Antenna and Propagation, Electron Devices, Laser and Electro-Optics and Microwave Theory and Techniques Joint Chapter for the UK & Ireland. She has also been acting as the Treasurer for the IEEE U.K. and Ireland Section since 2015. She is also a committee member of the IEEE U.K. and Ireland Women in Engineering.
