Poetry Emergency is a two-day festival exploring emergency and liveness in radical poetic art, taking place in Salford and Manchester on 22nd and 23rd November 2019. Bringing together some of the most challenging and surprising poets and performers of the moment, we ask how poetic art can intervene against passivity and fear in order to agitate and inspire. In the emergency-prone moment of anxiety and disaster-creation, how can the mini-revolutions of language art snowball into communities of support and resistance? After a first event in 2018 which shook us up and re-figured us beyond anything we could have hoped for, we’re so excited to bring Poetry Emergency back, and to once again bring together a rare and exciting programme to the North West, crossing between poetry readings and performance, alongside workshops and discussions.
