Alongside David, Susan Zieger (Professor of English, University of California Riverside) has also been invited.

Dr Cooper and Professor Zieger have also been named as international consultants on a research bid that NUST academics are submitting, in partnership with the National Library of Norway, to the Norwegian Research Council: a project which will lead to the creation of an interactive map of recently-digitised nineteenth-century Norwegian literature.

Dr David Cooper is senior lecturer in English at Manchester Metropolitan University. His research concentrates on literary geographies: David is interested in how writers represent spaces, places and landscapes in their creative practices; and he is similarly interested in the relationship between literary criticism and geographical thinking. This interdisciplinary research informs David's teaching on the Place Writing pathway on the Creative Writing MA/MFA in the Manchester Writing School, as well as a third-year critical-creative unit dedicated to ‘Writing & Place’.
