I have taught in a range of Primary Schools and across all age ranges. I have substantial experience of working both within the education system and outside of it (with various home educating and community groups). Working with alternative forms of education is insightful in helping to understand how, and in what ways, mainstream education has to change. I have worked with many teachers and practitioners in special needs schools and with SENCO roles. I worked for Trafford Social services and was involved in developing research and evaluation from with the Thomas Coram Institute for childcare provision in Trafford. I came to MMU as a senior lecturer in Education, working with ITE programme and developing research. I have led and carried out numerous research projects and am currently a Research Fellow in the Faculty of Education.
I can speak and understand french to intermediate level and am currently still actively learning.
I am currently supervising five professional doctorate students.

My research focuses on critical everyday diversities that impact upon and run through educational contexts (both formal and informal). I have an interest in exploring the complex inter relationships between different spheres e.g.teaching, social relations, language where the aim is always to make a difference for and with the people, places and projects that I engage with. Exploring experiential dimensions as well theory and methodology I seek to critique, challenge and question as well as create meaningful research which
speaks to multiple audiences.
I have a specific interest in reflexivity and research that takes account of the political and social implications.
