Following a successful career in the classroom, I moved into a specialist SEN role working for Stockport’s Behaviour Support Service. I have worked in a cross phase role to support schools, leadership and pupils in order to avoid exclusion. I have delivered significant amounts of training to schools and am a qualified Team Teach tutor. I developed Forest Schools within Stockport, leading a team of staff working with schools and I am a qualified Forest School trainer. I am interested in alternative approaches to education and how we can make inclusion work in other ways.
I am a Senior Lecturer in Education working predominately within Primary Education. My specialisms are within Professional Studies, Inclusion, Behaviour and Forest Schools. I completed my Doctorate in Education in 2017 using New Materialisms and arts-based, creative methodologies to investigate School Ethos. My thesis title is 'Affective School Atmospheres: An adventure through lively matters'. This work combines many of my research interests and ways that we can think more creatively around education in the UK.
