I am currently a senior lecturer in textile technology within the department of Apparel.
I studied as an undergraduate at the University of Leeds gaining a BSc(Hons) in Textile Chemistry. After a period of time in industry (over 15 years!) I came to MMU and gained my MSc in Clothing Product Development.
I am currently studying for a PhD in a project involving biofabrics and electronics across two faculties; Hollings and Science and Engineering.
My current acadeimc role enables me to be involved in many of the programmes in the department of Apparel, particularly Fashion Design and Technology and International Fashion Practice, supporting students in their learning of basic textile technology all the way through to cutting edge developments.
I am also heavily involved in the development of the new programme, BA (Hons) Fashion Futures, recruiting in 2017.
As part of the core team working with the Associate Dean for Enterprise (Barbara Shepherd) I also deliver bespoke training programmes for industry and oversee consultancy projects in the textiles lab.
My time in industry was varied - starting from fabric and finish development for car airbags, to childrens nightwear, to ladies casualwear and everything in between!
I have worked off shore for a number of years in the Far East and North Africa in garment manufacturing operations and fabric development roles.
I am deputy programme leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Futures.
Current research interests include:
I am currently studying for a PhD in a cross faculty project (Apparel & Science & Engineering) in biofabrics and electronics.
